Role

FPU-funded researcher in the Department of Methodology of Behavioural Sciences at the Universidad de Granada and member of PsychometricLab (Mind, Brain and Behavior Research Center — CIMCYC).

Belén holds a degree in Psychology from Universidad Loyola Andalucía. During her training she collaborated on a project validating the Postpartum Depression Scale for the Roma community, supported by a Collaboration Grant from the Spanish Ministry of Education. She then completed the Master's in Psychology of Social Intervention at UGR, where she began her research career under a Youth Guarantee contract in the Department of Experimental Psychology. She is currently in the final year of her doctoral thesis, focused on the development and validation of a scale for assessing everyday moral dilemmas.

Current work

Since 2021, Belén has been part of the PhD programme in Psychology (UGR) under a predoctoral contract from the University Faculty Training Programme (FPU 20/2020) of the Spanish Ministry of Education. Her doctoral research focuses on the adaptation and validation of assessment instruments through mixed methodologies, with particular attention to the cognitive and emotional processes involved in moral decision-making.

Motivations and inspirations

As a researcher, Belén is deeply driven by generating knowledge that can be transferred to the general population and that produces a real impact on people's quality of life. To achieve this, she considers it essential to carry out rigorous evaluations — both for identifying problems and for measuring the effectiveness of the interventions designed to address them. It was during her undergraduate years in psychology that she became interested in psychometrics, after recognising the importance of having effective tools at hand. Her ultimate aim is for science to provide not only theoretical knowledge but also practical tools that promote well-being for as many people as possible.
